In the neighborhood uses photos to tell about Vantaa before and now. The camera is targeted at everyday living and neighborhood. The photos tell about change, the city’s population growth, and leap from a rural parish to a vivid business concentration.

This book and the simultaneously opening Vantaa City Museum’s exhibition with the same theme, #ThrowbackVantaa, are a tribute to Lauri Leppänen (1923–2015) who owns the old photos, dating back decades, presented in the book and the exhibition.

The book’s texts are in English, Finnish and Swedish.
